As God had promised, the descendants of Abraham became a great nation and lived in the land God chose for them. They struggled to find a leader that would guide them like Moses had. These stories showed how David went from being a shepherd boy to becoming God’s chosen king.

God then made a new promise to David. One of his descendants would rule His people forever.

In time, this empire divided and slowly declined into shameful disgrace. By the end of this section, the nation was waiting for a descendant of David, the Messiah, to come and make everything right.

These are stories of great kings and wicked kings – of violent wars and miraculous miracles – of powerful prophets and fearless women.
